Daniel Sax, real name Daniele Raro, was born in Palermo on 15th February, 1964. His passion
for music started early. At 7 years he was already playing piano as well as
attending guitar lessons. Daniel began taking music seriously at 12 years
when he attended a musical formation course and passed successfully. The
saxophone entered Daniel’s world shortly after when he was invited to join
a band that made the run of important Palermitan showcases where he also
learnt to cover classical musical pieces.
From 1989 onwards his musical activities
as well as his musical qualities grew to such a degree that he was invited
by a number of Italian artists to go on the road with them. Simultaneously,
he made his first appearances on national television (RAI) accompanying a
number of acclaimed Italian musical artists (such as ?)
His eclectic
passion for all forms of music, makes him knowledgeable of a number of
musical styles such as funky, jazz,
pop, fusion and lately, ethnic
music such as celtic or latin-american music.
His first cd, Daniel’s Sexy Sax was
launched in 1998, in which he
performed cover versions of Italian and international songs with soprano,
contralto and tenor saxophones. The album produced in cd and cassette
formats was distributed in Italy and a number
of other countries such as United States, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Poland, Canada and Japan.
His cd was
promoted via his participation in Cantamare
1998 held in Palermo and shown on
RaiDue and TV Odeon.
In January 1999, the album was promoted in the
Song Fair (?) held in Paris.
In May 1999, two songs from the album were
included in a compilation (cd and cassette) named “Sax hit parade”, distributed throughout Europe,
which included a number of saxophonist artists such as Johnny Sax and
Gordon Ferguson.
In 2000, Daniel started to perform in
major Sicilian discos where he achieved great acclaim with saxophone pieces
based on House, Tribal and Underground rhythms.
2001, saw the launch of a second album “Daniel Sax” which included five
original songs as well as Italian and international cover versions.
Summer 2001, consolidated further
Daniel with a number of shows in various Sicilian localities, some of which
were shown on national and satellite television. The most important
manifestation was the “Pegaso D’Oro”
event held in Acireale, shown on Sicilia International in which Daniel
accompanied Alberto Sordi in his
last public show.
By 2002, Daniel is a household name in
the Sicilian club scene and his performances full of music and dance
routines are well received by the clubbing public. October 2002, saw the
addition of Chill-out, Jazz-house,
Latin-house and house genres to his already vast musical repertoire.
In 2003, he performed mainly in Sicily and Calabria in discos and
squears. He also made guest appearances at the 25th edition of
Cantamare and performed live at a fashion show held in S. Margerita di
Belice.
January 2004, saw him make his first
tournee’ in New
York (articles on Giornale di Sicilia 26th
January 2004 and AMERICA OGGI, 1st February 2004) .

Summer 2004
saw him continuing to achieve acclaim in the Sicilian clubbing scene.
He also participated at a charity event in aid of the Children’s Oncology
Ward of the Children’s Hospital of Palermo held at St
Joseph Jato.

October 2004 saw him make a
return visit to New
York where he performed in front of
Italo-Americans and the American public. He also took part in the Columbus Day Parade. This visit
inspired him to write 4 songs entitled: “Columbus day”, “Illusions”,
“The sea is splendid” and “Blue Fox”.
In May 2005 he was invited to the Windsurf World Championships event
held in Mondello and shown on TGS.
In Summer 2005, he performed in a
number of events held in Sicily and Calabria including the “20th edition of Vela D’Oro”
and made a trip to Malta to
perform at the “Senglea Fest”

The Friends of St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation and Lions Club La Valletta as
well as performing house music in Maltese
discos and shown on Maltese television.
The October 10 2005, day of the
Columbus Day in New York, part of the
Italian parade is accompanied by the music COLUMBUS DAY.
